Modamuse highlights some design objects from mobilet. The item that caught my attention is a picnic blanket showing Syndey's coastline that comes with needle and thread to use to cross stitch your favorite picnic spots onto it.

2007 Twin Cities Show Results
The show results for the 2007 Twin Cities Show, Townsville (?), Australia, are presented for the Arts & Crafts category. There are winners in Hand Embroidery & Needlework, (Champion: Lorraine Fuller) and Cross Stitch & Tapestry (Champion: Wendy Lawn), among many other categories. There's a gallery of photos, but they mostly include folks on rides and with arcade prizes, not any of the craft projects.

I often get info on bloggers who've had a Happy Dance (finished a project), showcasing their progress, got something nifty in a trade, etc. I'm thinking of adding those to this news page as well. I'd be interested in feedback either way. But the news that I'm finding so far is fairly dry.
And soon, now, I need to start uploading images to my (inactive) website space; I've pretty much used up blogdrive's free space.

For umpire's wife, keeping busy is key
From the Ringneck Invitational Softball Tournament in Sioux Falls, SD:
"She had a front-row seat, right behind the backstop at home plate, sitting in a reclining lawn chair working on her counter-cross stitch project.
The teams weren't even from this area, and her husband was umpiring on another field, but Sandy Friesen didn't mind. She was enjoying the games, the weather, and of course, her project.
"Ken (her husband, who is retired from Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation) has been umping for a thousand years and I usually go along," said Sandy. "We've been to a girls national in Virginia, and he umps when we go south in the winter."
That gives her plenty of time to work on her cross-stitch - the current project being a colorful pattern of tulips in a vase. She plans to have it framed."
I think they mean *counted* cross stitch...

Islamic art in Marica, Brazil
During the month of July, the city of Marica is hosting an Islamic art exhibit. Among the pieces will be those from two artists, a husband and wife team. Yevid Zedenny Al Zarhak Al Koef paints the designs, and his wife, Haddad Medina Garcia, does cross stitch embroidery over the top. Also included in the exhibit of 121 pieces will be garments, hopefully including embroidered ones. Unfortunately, there's no photos associated with the article.

Suite101's Sewing & Needlework section has an article by Kate Pullen on pricing your work for sale. As she points out, you need to consider not only materials cost, but overhead, time, competitors, your personal goals, and, of course, what the market will bear.
