m1k1 at A Little Bit Crafty shows off two
photos of Japanese woodblock designs in the
ukiyo-e style, done in tent stitch on silk guaze. Apparently, the original designs are from a cross stitch book by Graeme Ross that appears to be out of print.

Thanh Nien News has a
wonderful story about a Vietnamese lady that cross stitches professionally to the point of being self-sufficient soley from her stitching. She teaches other women, usually disabled (she doesn't have the use of her legs, due to polio), and has been been honored for her work. I just wish there were some photos of her finished designs.

The Eureka Springs Times Echo (I think that's the newspaper's name...) from Carrol County, Arkansas (US) has a whole article on the history of a 100 year old, embroidered "signature"
quilt. It's a little slice of the town that made it. The
front page of the website has an additional, close up photo of it.
